l also enjoyed the Alaskan cruise. The glaciers and Eagles and all the exciting new views. So much water. Wonder whatever happened to that idea of filling big rubber bladders and floating water down the coast to sell?

My finance (now husband) and I went to Gatlinburg, TN last week...got married on Monday and spent the rest of the week enjoying and hiking the national park and zip lining. I took lots of pictures, from waterfalls to flowers, to lumberjacks at a dinner show. It was a very pleasant time and we didn't want to leave. :-)

No one is thinking about vacations? l won't be going on many more, but l sure made up for all the bum ones once l retired. Many pleasant memories. Some l just drove around Oregon with no plans, no reservations. Stopping when l felt like it and taking pictures of flowers, lakes, rivers etc whatever hit my fancy.

Tybee Island for a few hours, the best part was leaving. It was a place of nothing but drunk people and bars. Savannah is a much better place.

Great trip on the Colorado l will bet. l had a cruise to Alaska and that was fantastic too. Not much for the weather, but saw things l never saw anywhere else that l have been. Eagles. Salmon spawning. Totem poles. Glaciers. My son flew out and landed on a glacier. No thanks. l fell in love with British Columbia. That's where l saw my first whale, tho they travel up and down our CA coast.

And then there was Hawaii in 1967, on a 5-day R&R from Vietnam. Flush toilets! Hot meals that didn't come out of a C-ration can!

A quick weekend run to Savannah, GA -- beautiful city, and a great place to relax. But the very best was a 12-day raft run down the Colorado River through Grand Canyon.
