I don't remember if it was a cost-cutting measure or because of the sugar embargo against Cuba, but it sure took me back to the early 60's when I would get a DP out of the vending machine in our school cafeteria and would drink the DP to help wash down my lunch sandwich. HUGE difference in flavor. Corn syrup comes close, but still ain't "the real thang". An SAGB drives to Dublin, TX, to take his empty bottles to buy more to bring home OLD DP. I could EASILY start mainlining that stuff! LOL!
